To which the correct response is: "Great. I'll sign a piece of paper that 
guarantees I'll not look around if you'll sign a piece of paper that 
guarantees me a job for life." If nothing else, you might at least break 
through the shell of illogic and illuminate their though process a little.

Or, something along the lines of the rant from the father in American 
Beauty when he applies or a job at the burger barn.
