that's exactly why i was asking. i was wondering if CA was the "official" abbreviation for canada, in which case there could be confusion, or whether CAN was the official abbreviation...or if abbreviating canada was just altogether avoided.

I don't like abbreviating "Canada" because "CA" is the same as the postal
code for California and too close for comfort. I often see "CAD$" listed for
currency on websites.
