> So do you have any practical suggestions for how to combat shyness?
>
"Shyness" is a euphemism. We have feelings (conscious or unconscious) that
cause us to use the euphemism (as we are doing in this discussion) instead
of dealing with the real problem. Shyness is a symptom of some other issue
-- usually feelings we have thus far not been willing to face (feeling we
have repressed). When we become aware of the feelings that we label as
"shyness" and begin to deal with them as they are and as we really feel
about them (we have feelings about our feelings) -- and not with a word that
further covers up the feelings (i.e., "shyness") -- we may well see that our
"shyness" reduces.
