Interesting that solutions that cause writers to be eliminated are met
with great indignation, but nobody's batting an eye about the idea of
killing off some layout personnel.

Your situation is unusual, but strikes me more as a luxury than a
hindrance. But if you want to get some people fired, you can probably make
a pretty good case for it - you could certainly save money by
consolidating writing and layout responsibilities.

Kinda puts things into perspective about how people who aren't tech
writers have no problem eliminating our jobs, doesn't it? But that's the
way business is done, always seeking the most efficient methods.
Interesting conundrum - good luck with it!
