Believe me TechComm Dood, the pain of such an
experience - of basically being punished for doing
good - is not something a one soon forgets. So, I
speak from more than hearsay.
Pain? So how do you handle these situations?
Tony Markos:
I pray for them and then move on.
TechComm Dude:
When I get a response out of someone like that, I
consider that a triumph! If they don't get it,
well, that's their problem.
Tony Markos:
Then what do you say when the same issue occurs again
on the next project? I personally would also love to
say "thats your problem" to my management, but most
often don't have such a luxury. I highly doubt anyone
can move up in an organization such an attitude.
Tony Markos:
Managers do not strive for high page counts, but
most often they do not recognize what an acheivment
simple, straightforward tech comm is. TWs often strive
for high page counts to impress and avoid punishment.
TechComm Dude:
There you go with generalizations again. Maybe this
is what causes your "pain"?
Tony Markos:
If you think that my postings are too general "Thats
your problem."
TechComm Dud:
For the record, I'm a manager, and I think your
reasoning is highly flawed.
Tony Markos:
Manager of what - a McDonalds? I don't know of any
company that will keep manager that takes a "Thats
your problem" attitude toward his/her management.
