TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
You can manage a lot of that by using multiple books that share some
chapters, as well as using conditions and variables to help control
what content appears where.

Get a translating vendor who supports your tool, be it Word,
FrameMaker, or RoboHelp. If you use RoboHelp and produce print from
FrameMaker, then the RoboHelp files will have to be translated as will
the FrameMaker files. If you use FrameMaker plus WebWorks Publisher
2003, only the FrameMaker files will need translation and the amount
of translation you'll need to do is halved.

Be aware that RoboHelp doesn't work well with FrameMaker source
content and that you'll have a lot of rework to do on the RoboHelp
side. You could just use RoboHelp and give up on FrameMaker, if print
is of secondary importance.
