Subject:RE: Errors and omissions insurance in Canada? From:"D.H.White" <trlbldr -at- comcast -dot- net> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Fri, 7 Jan 2005 10:21:04 -0500
In the U.S., particularly in the southeast, costs for such insurance usually
begin at $2000.00 and work their way upward.
I have no idea why, other than blind obedience to a
bureaucratically-originated rule, technical communicators are subject to
such a requirement. For one thing, we almost never originate anything. The
content we develop must be based on the data we're provided by SMEs or
discover through research. That content is reviewed and redlined ad nauseum
by anyone from programmers, developers, and engineers to managers and
marketing types.
Regardless, I know of no case where a technical communicator has been sued
or has settled a suit resulting from errors and omissions.
