Re: A wonderful new world
My documentation process is centered around telling developers and
management "How to Get a Product Document In Time for Delivery"
(I actually did use that as the title once). It takes the product development
process and inserts tags at various points to illustrate when Tech Pubs
should be notified of a new development project, when data needs to
begin flowing to writers, how much time is allotted to return draft reviews,
etc., etc., in order to put a document into the box or product folder at
exactly the right time for product shipment. The key to getting it to work
is that it is not my process, but a modification of the developers' process.
The one they get audited on. :)
Dude, write this up and publish it. I'll buy it. Sounds much more practical than the Hackos book, although I do give Hackos props for at least *trying* to organize tech pubs.
