Re: Is tech writing a profession? Are we professionals?
I *thought* the point was not 'are we professionals' as in do we carry
ourselves in a professional manner. But, on a government form, are we
granted a distinction of reproducible quality and education that would
allow us to call ourselves members of a Profession (this being the one
where you can sign passports).
Thinking only in terms of a professional manner, I have to admit that my first response echoed Louis Armstrong's on the definition of jazz:
"If you have to ask, you'll never know."
