I agree with Diane. I would NEVER submit my original Passport, Driver's
License, Social Security Card or my college diplomas to an employer.
THEY DO NOT NEED THE ORIGINALS!!!! I cannot stress this point enough!
Diane is absolutely correct; identity theft is something your friend
must consider.
If the company is actually "reputed" they should understand what they
are asking is extremely uncommon. College degrees can be verified
easily, and background checks negate any reason why they would want the
original passport.
Tell your friend to proceed VERY cautiously.

There is no way I am handing over my Passport to anyone who is not a
government official! Sounds like a set-up for identity theft. Is your
friend sure it is a legitimate company?
