Um, prosperity doesn't always mean freedom (the unequal distribution of
prosperity in China may result in another social upheaval, it is not as
bad as it was in the 1920's but as I understand, the people in the
countryside are getting the short end..). Freedom may not lead to peace
(vide the former Yugoslavia, after Tito).
But the real question is whether one is willing to go abroad to help
oneself, something people coming to the US and Europe have proven willing
to do, so it seems likely that N. Americans will be no less willing to
pursue the almighty dollar/Euro/yen.
