A friend of mine works for a company that has already tried moving to Author-It and had a terrible experience. The main problem was the lack of meaningful technical support as the support team was in New Zealand and not available when needed. They adopted RoboHelp and have continued with it. Overall the company felt that they had lost a least a week's production trying to work with Author-It. Of course, YMMV.
If RoboHelp is truly leaving the market, I'll consider it an adventure to begin working with other tools.

Well, if you create content in Word, WWP for Word is an easy move.
Author-It might be a solution, but it requires you move content
creation from Word. Not sure about ComponentOne, you might want to
check it out.
