Teri,
Actually, I've done it once. The latest version of RoboHelp has
export/import filters that they call "handlers." Frankly, they aren't
very robust, but they will produce XML of a sort. The most
comprehensive XML output handler supports the Docbook DTD, and produces
valid but rather brain-dead Docbook output. My suggestion would be to
either to write out the files as Docbook or use Tidy to convert the HTML
output of RoboHelp into clean XHTML. From either of those formats, you
can transform the RoboHelp output to your mil-spec DTD. This will
require someone who can write XSLT and can understand DTDs. If you
don't have someone like that on board, write me directly and I can
recommend a consultant.
Yes, Arbortext does support HTML Help output, but it is I believe
dependent on what DTD you use. Contact Arbortext directly.
If you've been following the "death of RoboHelp" discussion, you've
heard that most of the RoboHelp team left Macromedia and now have their
own company called Madcap. Their new product, Flare, is supposed to be
both an XML publishing system and a general purpose help authoring
system. I would be that they will have fairly good RoboHelp import
capability, given who they are. This might be the most pain-free
approach. I believe they are at
You can write to them, but I don't know if they will reply. They
haven't replied to my email.
Cheers,
Bill

Does anyone have experience exporting RoboHelp files (HTML Help) into Arbortext? Primarily, our client requires XML files using an external DTD. We are using mil standards. Also, does Arbortext support online Help? Thank you.
