TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I'm not a technical writer but a typesetter/designer. Haven't used LaTex
for many years, but when I had clients who needed to have a lot of
equations in their documents, I used it. What troubled my clients was
that they couldn't choose the font they wanted. Pretty much we were stuck
with the serif font as it had been designed. But it made setting
equations much easier than doing it any other way.
At one time, WordPerfect had an equation editor that was based on LaTex
but was a lot more clumsy. The advantage was that the font could be
chosen.
But then, my background is preparing technical documentation on the IBM
Executive typewriter -- remember "type-its" anyone? And talk about clumsy
and time consuming.
At this time I don't get much call for technical typesetting, but if I
did, I'd polish up my LaTeX and try to sell my client on it.
Happiness joy & laughter to you all
