Where to start out depends on what you are interested in.
You said you have a little experience writing documentation. What kind of
documentation? For hardware? Software? Remote-control devices? Medical
devices?
I recommend finding an internship at a company that interests you.
(Internships these days are after graduation.)
When I graduated, I had no clue about where I would go from there. I got
an internship, and the rest is history.

I am a graduating soon with a degree in professiona writing. I am
wondering if anyone has any advice about where to start out as a
technical writer. I do have a little experience writing
documentation, but not very much. What kind of jobs or experiences
should I look for as someone trying to get a good start in the field?
