I hope you had a good weekend. A couple of weeks ago, the poll was
about handouts for conferences. I was surprised how many people
answered that they've never attended a conference. Maybe this week's
poll will help get to the "why" of that, yet not exclude those who have
attended conferences.
In 2001, I attended the STC conference in Chicago. I paid my own way,
but my manager gave me the time off without using vacation. While I've
gone to a few training courses over the years, that was the only
conference I've attended. (I'll be in Seattle this year, though!)
Here's this week's poll question:
How would you describe your conference/training attendance?
* I go, and my company pays for it.
* My company does not pay for it, so I pay for it.
* My company does not pay for it, so I do not go.
* I am a contractor, and pay for conferences myself.
* I am a contractor but cannot afford conferences.
* I do not see any benefit in attending conferences.
* Other/None of the Above
I am imagining that there are going to be a lot of "Other/None of the
Above" responses, so I'm looking forward to some discussion on the
list. Take care, and have a great week!
