Mainly you should be worried because now there'll be fewer choices in
tools--and sometimes there's nothing available to fill the void (as us Mac
users recently found out when Adobe killed the Mac version of
FrameMaker).
You didn't say which Adobe/Macromedia products you prefer, but I think
Macromedia has the better web design app in Dreamweaver, and in FreeHand
they have the best line-art app by far. There's a good chance that both
products will be disappeared and that's a shame.
Eventually I expect open source apps like Cenon (in the case of FreeHand),
GIMP (Photoshop), and others to fill the void left by the merger, but
it'll be years before they're as reliable as the commercial versions.
