Natch, this is Microsoft's PostScript. Do we need another PostScript, and just don't know it?
Is there a difference between 'based on XML' and 'is XML'? Can you say WordML?
Do you suppose MS knows that virtually all Linux printing is done via PostScript?
Do you suppose MS knows that all OS X printing is done via PostScript -- and all screen rendering, too?
Since Longborn is more than a year away, wide adoption a year further (if it ever happens), why announce Metro now, on the heels of AdobeMedia? Could such announcement affect anybody's ... stock price? Nah.
Losers. This ain't technology, it's a hammer.

ps. Re 'based on XML', there's no such thing. A file either *is* readable, text-based XML + public DTDs (with no binary components) or it ain't XML. It's something, sure as shootin', but it ain't XML. Period.
