It's also important to understand the actual use that the installation
guide will receive. Who is going to use it, and for what purpose?
Some of the "users" may never read the guide, but will still need it.
Here are a couple of examples:

There is the possibility that the guide will be used by those
trying to sell the product to people who will never be users or
installers, but who control the expenditure of money.

It's also possible that no one will read the guide at all, but that
the hard copy of it will be part of the "document set" that is
somehow required to be in every shipment.

So listen carefully to those who want to stay with a printed
guide, even if it seems a waste of trees or of recycled newsprint.
