Well, being a little further into that middle-age thing... :-)
one begins to notice that what worked to slow the deterioration in
younger, more limber times is no longer effective... though it might
have delayed the inevitable by half a decade or so. What I need
(and should have had years ago when I wasn't feeling the damage
-- are you listening all you invulnerable, "can't happen to me"
young pups?) -- is so-called active or dynamic seating, the kind
that makes your deep back muscles work a little, all the time.

That is, I've had well-built chairs that were eminently comfortable
for extended periods... I'd have been better off if they had been
UNcomfortable enough to make me rise and walk around more often.

Jan had a good suggestion regarding ErgoRest arm-rests that attach
to the desk with their own articulated swing-arms, so you don't
need arm supports on the chair at all.

I think I'll just buy an exercise ball to try, and send for the ErgoRests.
If the combo seems to be working after a couple of months, I'll report
back (no pun).
