TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I am not holding my breath while waiting for Longhorn.
I think that XML is a good tool.
I don't think that single-source exists, and I don't want it to exist.
The tech writing department I worked in at Oracle was officially called
"user assistance." I don't worry too much about names (or technology).
I specialize showing how my product is used, so customers can get the
full value from it.
I work with Java and J2EE applications and technologies, so what
Microsoft does and says about help doesn't much concern me. I think the
world includes a few people who aren't that fond of Microsoft, so I have
at least some job security.
