'Australasia' might not have been the best term. I think 'South Asia - Southeast Asia - Oceania' might be better. Only need to meet a minimum safety, stability, comm and transport infrastructure bar.

What it's really about -- in terms of Raymond's concern -- is that I think there'll be continual downward pressure on English-language techcomm profitability for some time to come. The most (only?) malleable factor in the equation is cost basis -- the precise wedge that "outsourcing" depends on.

But if my costs and the competition's are leveled, we're back to quality. With an iBook and no corporate resources, I videoconference to Europe, and drag-and-drop files (securely) between my local systems and servers very far away as though they were local. SSH is really fast.

After a while, it seems to come down to how attached you are to Arby's, wildly over-priced everything, and the Joneses -- when the Chiangs are just as nice, maybe nicer.
