See, now this is what mystifies me.

I see so many of these discussions amongst my list colleagues, and I'm baffled at what seems to be needless, tool-driven complexity. Every platform has a quality HTML client. Why not just design, write, and master help systems in naked HTML (XHTML if you're smart) and port it and style it later if you have to?

By now, hypertext is a universal metaphor. Free-text search is a slight barrier, but that's moving to the desktop, too, on every platform.

Seriously, what's wrong with single-sourcing in XHTML? I want to understand this.
