The military is rolling out CHCS II (Composite Health Care System) - a
major upgrade from CHCS. Instead of a green screen system, it's windows
based and is supposed to have lots of new bells and whistles. As this is
a brand new system, documentation is at an all time minimum. The military
is sending out trainers to teach the docs and nurses how to use the new
system; but once they're gone, the facility will be on its own. If
there's a military hospital nearby, you might see if they want to contract
you on to do their in-house docs or even join their CHCS team. (This
might be through SAIC contractors, though.) Your medical background will
get you far in their eyes, and you'll be working with a different level of
audience - still educated and advanced, but not the highly focused
specialists you've worked with thus far.
Just a few thoughts. Good luck!
