Hi Rebecca,
I'm a "fine, thanks, and you?" type of person, but it's an awkward
formality, intended for a bygone, slower-paced lifestyle. I've often seen
the sequence of "Hi, how are you? -- "I'm good" -- "Good" -- "How are
you?" -- "I'm good" -- "Good" take place between harried employees
hustling down a corridor where the last "Good" was tossed off to a
retreating back nearly out of earshot. Only in America. We need to
modernize and streamline, this greeting, I'm for: greeting: raised
eyebrows -- reply: "gruntled".
