Re: Indexing multiple documents
My company wants to create a single index for all of the publications ina document set. This includes installation guides, upgrade guides, API
guides, (all FrameMaker-generated PDFs) and Online Help systems (WebHelp
HTML generated from RoboHelp).
Each of those tools can generate an index for its own documents. Why not export each index to a common format ("text" comes to mind), and plug a search tool into the collected compiled index? The tool would generate a list of relevant index hits on a search, each hit labeled with the appropriate source document. Hot-linking the hits to the documents would take a little more effort, but it's an interesting enough programming exercise to keep a programmer busy for an afternoon.
