Does anybody know a tool or technique for including code samples, with
color syntax highlighting, in an html page? I'm talking about the
"smart" color highlighting that a code editor uses to display your
code.
I can think of several excruciating hand-tagging ways to do this, but
no easy ways. It would be nice to find a code editor that can export
syntax-highlighted code as an html.
Background: the other day I found my client (CEO of a small startup)
writing a technical white paper, and he was including code samples as
screenshots from his code editor, in order to preserve the color syntax
highlighting. I'm using similar code samples in my web-based
documentation, but I'm using html, not graphics, so it's all
black-and-white. For the record, the code is C++ and Java.
