In the past few years I've had access to requirements definitions, business designs, technical specs and test cases, all fairly detailed. Also various test versions of the software... sometimes even a training/doc version.

That said, the reliabilty and completeness of the developers' docs varied widely. Too many of them were migraine-inducing horror shows of incomprehensibilty. And they were very often outdated by the time we had access to the software, by which time most of the developers/SMEs had moved on to their next task... very difficult to get access to them.
