I have done this the first two ways, and thought about
the third....
1. Four separate procedures, VERY CLEARLY labelled
that the user must perform only ONE. Despite this....
2. Combined procedures, with differences highlighted;
can you combine the multiples and singles, rather than
academic vs. non-academic, for example? I.e., If you
are an individual user, follow procedure X.
3. If your manual is only available online, make it
conditional. The user somehow indicates which of the
four categories they fall into, and only the
appropriate instructions are displayed.
All the best,
Brian
