am getting calls from sales people who "would like to develop a relationship
with %COMPANY NAME%" or are recruiters cold calling. I hid my contact info
and changed the entries. What a pain.
At least with MySpace you get invitations to fun events.

Really! That hasn't happened to me yet, but I've only been a member
for a little while. I'll keep the spam filters at the ready. ;)
I actually find blogging to also be a useful tool for networking and
building contacts. I just "friended" a blogger who's an author of
cybercrime and anti-Net stalking reference books, which is a Godsend
for my work. :)
