There are no guarantees, especially if you go beyond straight HTML.

For example, for security reasons I have a plugin in Firefox that
intercepts any Javascript and allows me to decide whether to partially
or fully enable it on any given site. There are simply too many rather
serious repercussions that can follow from having everything open
these days.

Since Windows makes it fairly easy to access its inner workings, many
of the "features" are best omitted for a machine connected to the
Internet. ActiveX, for example, is rather notorious for the exploits
it empowers.

When we speak of "users' needs" it is disingenuous to believe that a
"rich experience" at the cost of requiring exposure to malware of
various kinds is a desirable goal. That is, after all, the trap that
Gates and company are only beginning to deal with in a comprehensive
fashion after all these years.
