TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I have just joined this list and thought I should quickly introduce
myself. As you can see in the signature, I am a lecturer for Texas A&M
University in Qatar, part of the grand educational experiment going on
here. I teach Technical Writing to the students pursuing one of the
four engineering degrees we offer here: electrical, chemical,
mechanical, and petroleum.
I must tell you that I have thoroughly enjoyed the discussions so far
(you know you're over-specialized when your intrigued by a discussion on
the use of the!).
Should any of you be involved as working professionals in any of the
above engineering fields, I would relish an opportunity to chat with you
about the types of technical documentation you produce.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this list as a means of
remaining current in the field and bringing relevant information, as
compared to dry textbook stuff, to my students.
