First Impressions (was: salary for entry level position...)

I must be abnormal. Somehow, I don't know how much most of the people
I know are making. I don't think that knowledge would change how I
feel about them.

On the other hand, people you encounter while interviewing for a job
seem to believe that your pay packet is an accurate reflection of your
market value.  Translation: if  you're highly paid, you must be really
good at what you do. I've often found that this isn't as true as the
converse.

Negotiating for great terms is a skill that doesn't necessarily form
part of the skillset required to do a great job in profiles that do
not include sales or purchasing.

Look at the opportunity, domain, work culture, and access to as much
information in the organization and industry as possible.
