Mandy,
That seems like appropriate coaching for a fellow TW. Lately, though, I've had, as clients, a number of smart, creative people who are nonetheless ignorant when it comes to routine Windows use and need much more basic coaching than that. So let me add a few points that might be helpful when dealing with college students and other nonprofessional computer users: Learn how to inspect the amount of free space on your hard drive; learn how to defrag it (or to schedule a routine defrag); dump a few gigabytes of MP3s now and then so your 500-page Word document has someplace to throw its temp files while you're working; reboot occasionally; don't try to work that big a document while you're simultaneously playing a music CD, carrying on fifteen IM conversations, and watching a streaming video. And..."Save Early, Save Often, Save As" (I forgot which list member had that as a sig line once).
