TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
This has been my default mode of illustration for many
years now, and the only people who ever seem to have
any issues with it are engineers (in particular software
engineers; hardware engineers don't seem to share
this, probably because it's also the way notes on
engineering drawings are usually done). I've never had
any complaints from users.
One area that is highly affected is graphics. We are
being asked to include no text in any graphic, but
to include bubble numbers with lead arrows anywhere
we want to include text.
