Think I'm about the same age. I clearly remember seeing Sputnik on a cold
Halloween night, duck-and-cover" exercises at school, the first manned
American space flight, 78s, pre-British Invasion music, "I Like Ike", and
lots of other "old timer" stuff. Ah, those were the good ole days! Although
I can't function well today without my PDA, cell phone, several computers
(both are LOTS more powerful than the whole climate controlled room
behemoths of my DP 100 classes), and insulin pump.
