Re: Do Burned CDs Have a Short Life Span?
What I'm thinking is that nobody cares much about anything that happened before their parents were born (and a majority don't care much about anything that happened before they themselves were born), so screw 'em. Let 'em rediscover and reinvent everything for themselves if they're so damn smart. Why bother preserving anything? We're all gonna die soon enough anyway.
That hits the head on the nail.... I have a bazillion 35 mm slides and negatives (Kodachrome, Ektachrome, Fujichrome, BW, etc.) and they all have a lifespan that goes well beyond when I'll still be slamming cold beer or sipping good wine. So who am I archiving these images for? The kids may store them for a while, but two generations down the road, they'll either be tossed or donated to some museum where they'll probably ever see the outside of the archive box.
I like Bill's idea of making them into coasters.
