TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I've also used all three (Monster, Careerbuilder and Dice). I got the
most, and best (meaning jobs that actually fit my experience) from
Monster, but only when I *posted* my resume. For responding to posted
jobs, I find they were all about the same - only with active follow-up
on my part did I ever hear anything about the jobs I applied *to*.
An exception: my current position was posted on Careerbuilder and
obviously, I did get a response from my application. In over 15 years
of tech writing and just over 10 on the web, I have found that to be the
exception.
Exception to the exception: If the posting is from a contracting
company, then yes, I have found that I get responses almost immediately.
Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, the position is not a good match for
me.
One last qualifier - I am in the Phoenix metro area and do not work
outside this area (minimal travel excepted).
Good luck.

Subject: CareerBuilder web site
(I never saw this hit the site, so I'm resending)
Hi, guys...for reasons I cannot go into in the event that others from
my company read this list, my position is being eliminated in about
1.5 weeks. I'd be happy to discuss off-list.
I've been a frequent user of Dice and less so with Monster. I'd like
your collective opinion on the site CareerBuilder.
...and yes, I'm available in about two weeks....but that's not the
purpose of this post.
