On a serious note, I speculate that perhaps the excessive instructions
stem from the lawsuit-happy people who when they do something completely
absurd that should have been completely obvious not to do, they sue the
company so they don't feel like such an idiot. So, in response, the
companies have to include every single little possibility they can think
of so they have a defense, and the company can then say "We included
instructions and warnings not to do just that!"
