Creating new words...
First, I will proudly admit that I am a descriptivist, not a
prescriptivist. So bring on the new words. (By the way,
"descriptivist" didn't pop up in my online dictionary, though it did
in my American Heritage dictionary.)
I personally find such words and phrases as "ginormous" (which is in
my online dictionary) and "more better" to be quite useful. This does
not, of course, mean that I put them in my documentation. In my
documentation, I uphold rigorous standards of "correctness." However,
in my own speech, I use the words that convey the meaning as I want it
conveyed, and sometimes a phrase such as "more better" conveys a
concept that is better than another with an added sense of fun. I've
even been known to say "ain't" (*gasp!!!) and other such
colloquialisms with a straight face.
Then again that's just my approach, and, like I said, I would NEVER
dream of putting those types of words in my documentation. The risk of
offending, confusing, or just plain not making sense is too great.
