Your co-worker is correct. It has been widely reported in the
technical press that there will be no "FrontPage" application in the
upcoming Office 2007 suite. However, the old FrontPage application
apparently serves as the technical foundation for the new web design
product that will be part of the Office 2007 family: SharePoint
Designer 2007, intended for use by people customizing SharePoint
sites. (See, e.g., http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/001460.html)
Your old copy of FrontPage won't stop working, of course, and it'll be
a while before Office 2007 becomes available and even longer before
most corporate environments start deploying it.
If you want a substitute now... unless you are relying on FrontPage to
customize SharePoint, go download Nvu and start using that
(http://nvu.com.) It's free and open-source, and it works great.
