Kirk Turner reports: <<We had a meeting yesterday with the content
experts, and one of them made a snide remark about the "big fat bullets"
that I used for the unordered lists. Actually, the bullets are standard
size, but this content expert, a major architect in our state, likes the
more eccentric bullets available in Word--you know, the fancy arrows.>>
Everything you report about this expert makes me think that it's better
to do what he or she wants, and not worry too much about it. Life is too
short. If anyone really hits you on these so-called "design decisions",
you can tell them that your editor made them. Make sure you add this
expert's name to the title page as a co-author or editor. Spread the
blame... And *tell* him or her! Say "since you've made these design
decisions, I should add you as a contributor on the title page" Pure
flattery, to be sure, but the best way to handle a PHB is to give him or
her the rope for the hanging, and let them do the rest.
When asked about the Torah, G-d said "It was my best work, but then
Moses *edited* it!"
