I encountered seemingly strange things like this when I first received
Word 2003.
What I found to be happening is that the default is to maximize one's
view by "hiding" extraneous white space at the top, bottom, and sides.
The page really *was* 8.5 X 11, but I wasn't *seeing* 8.5 x 11.
Before going wild on templates (templates are good; don't get me wrong),
check Tools>Options>View>White space between pages (print View Only).
