Large tech document and formatting

Hello,
I have a 527 page technical document that many developers have worked on
and some have little WORD experience. There are now several differing
formats in it...

What is the most intelligent/efficient way to work this to get the
formatting and styles uniform.  Meaning, is there some 'global' thing
that I can do?  It has 5 headings in many sections.
