People have been screaming about Word for a long time.
All that happens is Microsoft adds more bells and
whistles, apparently in the hope that people won't
notice the shortcomings. I have to use Word, but I
prefer using Open Office Writer (which isn't perfect
either). The learning curve is small, and the price is
beautiful. If enough people switch, Microsoft might
notice.
