The first part to the answer to your question should really be based on
disaster mitigation planning. Therefore, the first question to ask is "what
would you do if you knew that a Cat 4 hurricane (or tornado) was headed
toward your business location and you only had 24-36 hours to prepare for
it?"
Disaster recovery programs, processes, and procedures should always be based
on and rooted in the disaster mitigation plans. What you do BEFORE the
disaster hits will impact the way that you recover. You plans should include
daily actions that will enable your recovery effort to be successful.
Remember the P5 formula: Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
Once you have your plans complete and accepted, ensure that all staff train
the way that you would recover and if disaster strikes, that your staff
recover the way you trained and planned.
