Elizabeth J. Allen (eja -at- samurai -dot- com) said, "I would scrap the entire writing department and integrate the technical writers into the engineering/development teams. I firmly believe that tech writers need to be embedded within their functional groups, not set apart like a display at the zoo. "
That doesn't work if the writers are responsible for more than one area. For example, I write just about anything other than Marketing/Sales--not to mention play website adminstrator and a number of other roles.
I'm know I'm not the only "Technical Writer" on this list who does more than just write.
