Re: IIBA Certification

It seems to me that getting IIBA certification is not
a way of a technical writer adding value, so much as
it is a way of breaking into a new field. There is
some truth to the idea that technical writing always
contains an element of business/system analysis. But
in the business analyst position, producing
documentation
is only a means of showing what you've done, not an
end in itself. Judging from what I've read about
business analysis, that position has customer
relations management, financial planning, and business
strategy aspects that are not normally a part of
technical writing.
