Subject:{Tools Question} Field pop-up in Word From:"Frank Ellifsen" <frank -dot- ellifsen -at- gmail -dot- com> To:techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com Date:Thu, 31 Aug 2006 15:29:13 -0600
Hey Ya'll.
I haven't wanted to say much on the list since my last escapade, but I've
encountered a problem that I can't solve, and I'm hoping somebody in
Techwr-L land can help.
We use a document review sign-off sheet that we send out with our completed
documentation to the reviewers. They have to sign-off on it before I can
proceed. This sign-off sheet is in Word.
When I worked for a previous employer, I modified the file so it was a Word
template. Then I added field codes such that every time you opened the
document, you were prompted to enter the name of the document being
reviewed, the review type, etc.
Now I'm at a new employer, and I want to do the same thing -- only I can't
figure out what I did before to make it work. I can insert fields, but I
can't get Word to prompt me when the document opens in order to get content
for each of the fields.
Can anybody help me figure out how to make this work? I'm sure it is
something simple I'm not remembering, but Word's help nor Google searches
have yeilded the results I need. Thanks in advance.
F. Ellifsen
