The trick is to run it through Word first. Ventura will read a Word
file.

Open the Excel file in Word and save it as a Word doc. (You may have to
install a converter. Mine asked and then installed it automatically.) My
test had some missing lines, which were easily fixed by selecting the
table and using the table border tool. 

Then, in Ventura, choose File, Import Text. Choose the Word doc. It
should import without any problems.
